A man leaves the path and pushes into thorny palms. Whatever is behind him, the shelter he chooses tells you something about how badly he wants to disappear. That is where Episode 2 begins. With a person trying to hide. What Do They Want From Us? follows reported encounters in Argentina and Brazil, then enters Whitley Strieber’s accounts and a much darker question: when people call humans “soul containers,” what are they actually claiming—and where did that claim come from? I wanted this episode to feel closer to the people inside these stories. The unfinished roadside repair. The light at the window. The decision to lower a lamp in a canoe. The shoes someone lets fall from his hand. The visual reconstructions are labeled. The records are real records. Those are different things, and the difference matters. In the Brazilian material we examine, reported symptoms sit alongside a doctor’s qualifications. The account does not establish that anyone was drained of blood. The more frightening retelling is not automatically the better-supported one. The same phenomenon did not mean the same thing to everyone. One witness described beauty and wanted another look. Others described fear or pain. Smoothing those differences away would make the episode easier to tell—and less interesting. “Soul containers” has a source trail. An alleged document, a story attributed to someone else, and a speaker’s interpretation should not quietly become one confirmed claim. We follow those distinctions without pretending that the larger question is uninteresting. OPEN THE SOURCE TRAIL Brazil’s Arquivo Nacional file, ARX.0.0.0322: includes a later memorandum and reproduced earlier reporting. PDF pages 8–10, 14–16, 21–23, and 33 are among the passages discussed. A government-held account is not independent proof of its explanation. They do leave us with questions about attention, control, memory, and what it would mean to encounter an intelligence whose intentions we could not read. The encounter ends. The rest of a life begins. That is the question at the heart of Episode 005: After the Encounter. When the questions stop and the cameras leave, there is still a working day, a family, and a life to return to. This episode follows Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker after their reported Pascagoula encounter, then turns to Betty and Barney Hill. It asks what public attention, memory, and the passage of time can do to a story—and to the people carrying it. Watch the full film...
Hey everyone, One light was still on the water. By the time the boat could reach it, it was gone. That detail in the early Shag Harbour paperwork stayed with me. A disappearing light in the sky leaves you looking up. A disappearing light in the ocean leaves you standing over the place where it might still be. Something Under the Water, Episode 003 of Unknown Origin, is now ready to explore. Watch the full episode: Watch Something Under the Water Listen or read the transcript: Listen and read...
Hello, Six characters on a computer printout: 6EQUJ5. They look like something waiting to be decoded. But they record the measured strength of a signal—not an extraterrestrial sentence.
